BreastPump Mama, a Woman-Owned Small Company, Thanks Sarah Palin and Daughter with Baby Gifts

Press Release, October 26, 2008
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BreastPump Mama, a Woman-Owned Small Company, Thanks Sarah Palin and Daughter with Baby Gifts

Tucson, Arizona - BreastPump Mama, a woman-owned small company, earlier this month sent baby gifts of a VersaPed® foot-powered breast pump each, to vice presidential candidate Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska, who recently had a baby, and to Mrs. Palin's daughter, who is expecting a baby soon. In the letter which accompanied the gift to Mrs. Palin, BreastPump Mama wrote:

[BreastPump Mama] would like to thank you for having the audacity to demonstrate the belief that breastfeeding is so important to the health and development of our children, that it is not out of place anywhere in society, public or private, even in the highest halls of state and federal government. Because our children are not always comfortable in our places of work, you have charmed so many of us with your stated willingness to "put down the blackberry and pick up a breast pump," just as countless other mothers across America do every day. It is wonderful that you do not regard your children as an obstacle to your work, but rather as along for the ride to watch and learn as you serve the people of Alaska and the United States.

Please accept the enclosed gift of a lightweight VersaPed® foot-powered breast pump from [this] small up-and-coming company, a product which was inspired by [the company owner's] own children, in order to make the lives of working breastfeeding mothers easier. The pedal is designed to adapt to the collection kit of any brand of table-top electric breast pump that you might already be using, and in this way can be used as a travel accessory when there are no outlets or battery chargers available. In fact, when your breast pumping days are behind you, the VersaPed® pedal, with the hoses removed, has even been used as a leg exerciser on long flights, which, as your career unfolds before you, are a distinct possibility.

Thank you again for your contributions to legitimizing breastfeeding anywhere in society, and of using breast pumps in the work place for the welfare of our children, who are our future.

The letter to younger Ms. Palin wished her all possible joys of motherhood.

Updates & News on VersaPed® BreastPump

Hello all wonderful VersaPed® affiliates,

I hope this economy is treating you well. One nice thing about VersaPed breast pump products is that it is not a flash-in-the-pan type of industry. There will always be mothers, babies, and the need for parenthood products! So thank you for putting the name of the VersaPed foot-powered breast pump out there!

I want to thank all the new affiliates who have recently signed up, and I especially want to thank the affiliates that have been with us for several months.

If you have visited the site recently, you probably noticed that although the look and feel are only subtly different, the personality of the site has changed -- namely, it now has a personality! ;-) The URLs VersaPed.com and BreastPumpPedal.com, while discriptive, just didn't have the zing I was looking for to provide that marketing sparkle. But don't worry. While both (now all 3) URLs point to the same point in cyberspace (so no broken links), I've been converting over all the material to reference BreastPumpMama.com.

But of course, what better way to identify with the customers, than to identify with the customers! The foot-powered breast pump was indeed invented by a breastfeeding mother for breastfeeding mothers -- so now, not only is BreastPump Mama the company & web site, but every customer is also another BreastPump Mama. I'm hoping a warmer interaction so moms everywhere will be comfortable ordering.

Which brings me to the next item on the agenda. BreastPump Mama has set in motion an outrageous warm & fuzzy publicity event, and you can expect the press release in the next few days to use to create buzz on your blogs, forums, & regular favorite outlets, if you so choose.

To top this note off, I would really like to get to know y'all a bit better, and have set up a mailing list for affiliates, both online and offline, of the VersaPed products. My experience has been that not all PDC e-mails to affiliates go through, and I especially don't want anyone to miss the press release announcement! I would really love to know people's names, and what part of the world you live in, too!

I encourage you to subscribe. This new list is only for product and marketing updates for the VersaPed breast pump products. The sign up box is in the right side-bar of this page.

Best Wishes and many Regards,

Suzanne

Link Cloaking

Greetings all my Wonderful Affiliates,

I want to thank you again for choosing to represent the VersaPed® foot-powered breast pump products for breastfeeding mothers. Thank you to all who have been with us for a while, and thank you to the new folks who have only recently joined.

Some of you might be long accomplished affiliate marketers, so today's message might be old news to you (or it might not), but if you are new to affiliate marketing, you might be less familiar with the term ... "Link Cloaking".

Why would someone want to cloak their links? Well, I know what I used to do before I understood affiliate marketing - thinking it would save me money, or save me privacy, or whatever, I used to dissect the links people sent me, to get to the product itself, without all the tracking info on it. At the time, being just an uninformed consumer, I thought it was saving me money, and I thought I was defeating tracking on myself. What I was actually doing was defeating the tracking for an affiliate who had rightfully earned a commission by referring me to a product. As the end purchaser, now I know it was not saving me money, and if I made any purchases, I am so sorry now for the folks I unwittingly left standing without their commissions. Thankfully, I didn't do this very many times, but I am now aware from reading affiliate marketing articles that this misunderstanding and practice by consumers is not uncommon at all.

If you know HTML and you want to set up forwarding pages from your own web site, you can effectively cloak your own links, but that is a bit of work. Luckily, there are free services online that can do this quickly and easily for you, and the added bonus is you get a link to share that is short and sweet. You can leave your long links behind, which don't always fit in the fill in forms on advertiser web sites anyway. (Caveat - if you use Google Adwords, read the fine print about landing pages "matching" the domain name of your link.) But if you blog, have a mailing list of your own, participate in forums and online communities, or use any of the dozens of online classified ad sites (more on that in a future post), these short little URL redirects are extremely handy.

One that's been around a while is TinyURL.com. This one has been around quite a long time, and it's very quick and easy. If you want to keep track of your URL's, though, you really have to e-mail them to yourself so you don't lose them.

Another one I've recently discovered is a.dg. I have not yet figured out what a.gd stands for, unless it's "A Great Deal"! ;-) but it is a great little free service that keeps track of your links for you.

Thanks again for being part of the VersaPed® program.

Have a wonderful day!

Suzanne

VersaPed® and PayDotCom.com

Hi all my wonderful affiliates,

I want to thank all the new VersaPed® affiliates who have recently joined the program, and I want to thank again all those who have been with us for several weeks. This morning seems to have been a troubling time for PayDotCom.com, because their server is down and there is no reaching that web site or anything connected through it.... such as the VersaPed® order page!! Obviously, I can't reach any of you at the moment without waiting for PayDotCom.com to come back up, but it soon as it does, I will either find a way to save all your e-mail addresses, or I will contact you again and ask you to send them to me while we still can! I find it particularly frustrating not being able to reach my sales partners except by having to depend on an unreliable server, and I'm sure you are frustrated as I am that no sales can happen either, while they are down. Hopefully, they will find a permanent solution to whatever is causing it, but if this becomes a frequent occurrence, I will find another solution for us all.
Thank you so much for your continued support of this product for making breastfeeding mothers' lives easier,

Suzanne.

PS - Since you are receiving this, we know that PayDotCom.com is up and running again, but it leaves me with an insecure feeling that I can be put out of touch with you all so easily. If you are comfortable with giving me your e-mail address, please send it to me directly. This way, we can be sure to stay in touch. The alternative, if PayDotCom.com gives us trouble again, is for you to check in with my
blog for VersaPed® affiliates.

Thank you again for being part of the VersaPed® family.

PPS - Dear Affiliates, I tried to send the above letter to you through PayDotCom.com's messaging system, but for reasons I was never given, the message was blocked. I do not have any of your e-mail addresses, and I'm OK with relaying my sales through PayDotCom.com in order that you get paid for your referrals, but I am not OK with my business communications being moderated by them. If you want to be sure of receiving updates on the VersaPed® breast pump, please do drop me a line, or subscribe at the link in the right column of this page.

Thank you for Joining

Hello New Affiliates,

I am very happy to meet you and want to thank you for joining the VersaPed®affiliate program, promoting the VersaPed® foot-powered breast pump and universal breast pump pedal. I are very excited about this product, and how it helps breastfeeding mothers, working mothers, and mothers who don't have ready access to private electric outlets. As affiliates, I wish you every financial success as well.

By way of introducing myself, I am Mom to 3 children, the oldest of whom was the original inspiration for this product, and who are all wonderfully intelligent and creative themselves. (Let me tell you, life is really full when you have bright kids!) Yet they don't remember a time when their Mom wasn't pursuing bringing other breastfeeding moms the option she didn't have when the oldest was born - the foot-powered breast pump. Yes, you might be aware that there is one other such breast pump on the market, but did you now that that large company licenses the rights from moi? Yes, it's true. And while that product gets the job done, it wasn't as lightweight and easy to pack to work as I had envisioned for breastfeeding moms. So realizing there was room in the market for both products, I've developed the VersaPed® as well.

My hat is really off to folks who spread the word when they like a good product, and you deserve to be compensated for doing so! Some of you may be new to affiliate marketing, and some of you may be seasoned at it. There are unlimited opportunities and avenues online. Everyone has a unique voice, and it truly is a wonderful world now with the internet enabling everyone to express their voice, and be heard! Believe me, I sincerely appreciate that you have chosen to include the VersaPed® breast pump and universal breast pump pedal in your message to the world. I am very much honored by your choice.

Please feel free to drop me a line,

Welcome New Affiliates

This is an exciting time for BreastPump Mama's unique VersaPed® products and our new affiliate program. First off, I really want to thank you for joining as a VersaPed® affiliate. If you are new to affiliate marketing, all the techniques and advice available the massive web might seem overwhelming at first, but the bottom line is that anyone you refer to BreastPumpMama.com who makes a purchase earns you a commission. Amazon was one of the pioneers in this marketing method, and by now most of the online-buying public is familiar with it, so your customers should not be totally unfamiliar with it.

The accounting sevice I've chosen is PayDotCom.Com, because it offers the tools and services I was looking for - cut & paste codes for affiliates, individual accounting reports, and electronic payments to speed payments to my affiliates. PDCDC's account navigation does take a little bit of getting used to, though, and the best way I've found to think about is that many affiliate marketers market both other people's products as affiliates, and market their own products as vendors with affiliates of their own. So my own interface as a vendor is much like you interface as an affiliate, and it will help you navigate their site if you think in terms of changing hats between being an affiliate and being a vendor. If you are into marketing, I don't expect that mine are the only products you are marketing anyway. But I sure hope you do enjoy offering breastfeeding moms BreastPump Mama's great VersaPed® products! :-)

To kick start your marketing campaigns, I've made an array of graphic ads in sizes standardized by the Interactive Advertising Bureau. You can browse the ad gallery here, or through permanent the link in the right column of this blog. It is likely new graphics will appear as inspiration arises. If you see any you like, rather than your plain text affiliate link, you can use a graphic (or 2 or 3...) instead, on your web site or blog. If you know enough HTML, you can build you own link from the image locations and your unique text link, or you can just visit your PayDotCom.Com account and get the cut & codes, which I have uploaded for the VersaPed® products.

I hope this is enough to get you started!

More hints & tips to come :-)

Thank you so much for joining us!

Suzanne.
